St David's Day 2008

March 1 2008

Saturday 1st March

There are many reasons to celebrate on the 1st March; on this day in 1803, for example, Ohio joined the US as its seventeenth state. Not to mention that the Thai province of Yasothon was created after being split off from Ubon Ratchathani. But most of all, it's St David's birthday, and he is the King of Wales.

In 2008, we celebrated St David's Day in the Welsh-friendly surroundings of the Vauxhall Griffin. There was exclusively Welsh Music, from Badfinger, Budgie and a bit of Bonnie. Datblygu, Duffy and Darling Buds. El Goodo, Eleri Llwyd, ElectroVamp. Gorky's, Gruff, Goldie Lookin' Chain. Shaky and Shirley. Cerys, Cale, and Kylie (her mum's Welsh isn't it). Basically, everything from the Alarm to Zabrinski. With Bara Brith, daffodils and a brief appearance from a Manic - is was hopefully the beginning of a regular St. David's night party.
